Communication is key. Communication is of the key in any relationship; within a family, friendship, work, or school. That being said, let’s talk about my mother’s total disregard for any form of communication.
So I am able work Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays, but I’m not always put on the schedule as working every day. For example, last weekend I only worked about 8 hours. This weekend, I will be working about 25 hours. Things can be drastically different depending on how many other people are/are not working.
Whenever we need time off, the managers are fine with it, as long as you tell them 2 weeks in advance. Nothing impossible, and anybody who has their act together can do it with ease.
This Sunday, my brother is graduating high school. Nobody ever mentioned it to me, and obviously that was the last thing on my mind. So when my mother demanded that I attend it, regardless of the fact that I had been put on to work from 9:30-5, it took me as quite a surprise.
If only she had mentioned this a week ago… So now I’m left searching to find someone who can cover me, so I can go to a dumb ceremony where my brother will be showcased for approximately 3 seconds.
Communication is key.
